This Sunday, August 9 is going to be Census Sunday in Atlanta.
That’s when local pastors plan to remind their congregations to fill out the national headcount – and make sure they get the federal dollars their communities are entitled to. It only takes a few minutes. But the impact lasts for years to come.
That money translates to tens of thousands of dollars per each person counted over the course of ten years. Funding from the 2020 Census goes toward everything from schools and roads to hospitals and public works. It also determines the political power those communities will have, and it helps guide business creation as well as housing development.
Making sure that everyone in the city is counted in the census is one of Mayor Bottoms’ top priorities, because in Atlanta – EVERYBODY COUNTS!
