For some of Atlanta’s vulnerable seniors, dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic has been incredibly stressful. But the crisis has also made it difficult for many to access healthy food. And the increased demand on traditional help organizations has created severe food shortages for people who need that help the most.
That’s why Mayor Bottoms created the City of Atlanta Senior Food Assistance Program. With the help of generous partners like GOODR, older residents who qualify are provided with enough groceries to last a week. Every week. The items are nutritious, represent every food group and are selected to offer creative meal options.
We visited GOODR at its distribution center to see first hand what they do to help keep ATLSTRONG.
