Most of us take for granted knowing what services are available to residents from the city of Atlanta. But for those who come from different countries and speak different languages, understanding that these services even exist – let alone how to access them – can be a daunting task.
That’s where MyCity ATL classes come in. Students learn everything they need to know about local government agencies and departments and how they can find answers to their questions and concerns.
Welcoming Atlanta and Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms’ Office of Immigrant Affairs believes this is an excellent way to empower the city’s foreign-born population to effectively use the public resources that are designed to help all of us.
And with the 2020 Census fast approaching, making sure our foreign residents know what tools are available to them – to make sure they get counted – is one of the priorities of MyCity ATL.
