Yoga may be five-thousand years old, but in Atlanta it’s getting a modern new twist.

Hip Hop Yoga is all about exercise and fun. It’s also a unique way to engage a more diverse audience to the age-old practice of meditative body stretching – which tightens the core, builds strength and lowers your stress levels.

Dozens of Atlanta residents and employees turned out for the second City-sponsored Hip Hop Yoga class, which was held in the atrium at City Hall. The class was taught by popular yoga instructor Jaimee Ratliff, while DJ Amber Alert live-mixed the music in the background.

Atlanta Chief Health Officer Dr. Angelica Geter Fugerson says yoga is an incredible way to improve your health and wants to see the pop-up classes expanded.
