Sometimes, it can be difficult for residents to bring their concerns to City Hall. So, one solution is to bring City Hall to the residents. That’s exactly what Atlanta’s Planning Department is doing with its Atlanta City Studio. The studio, which sits like a corner store on Cascade Road in Southwest Atlanta, is a unique way for the City’s urban designers to collaborate directly with local stakeholders – to address the needs that neighbors consider a priority.

By all accounts, the two-year program in Cascade Heights has been hugely popular, creating partnerships that will continue even after the studio closes this summer. It will reopen in downtown Atlanta in a more centralized location that’s also accessible to a wider cross-section of mass transit.
