Atlanta’s Historian in Heels is back!

With the help of the Atlanta Parks and Recreation Department and the National Black Arts Festival, Dr. Karcheik Sims-Alvarado has taken her popular civil rights art exhibition to a new location on the John Lewis Freedom Parkway. The exhibition – with enlarged rare photographs and accompanying narratives – is often described as an open book to the civil rights movement in Atlanta from 1944 to 1968.

Originally curated on the Atlanta Beltline, the year-long engagement received more than two-million views from passers-by. The hope is it will achieve the same kind of success along Freedom Parkway.
